Orren Darling and Sophia Wood

Orren Darling was born in Vermont on November 3, 1796. His name also appears as Orrin, Orin, and Oran. I have not been able to find the Darling family to which Orren belonged.

Orren Darling married Sophia Wood in Orange, Orange County, Vermont in 1821. Sophia was born in Orange, Orange County, Vermont on June 3, 1803 to Buckminster Wood and Polly Brooks. (The 1850 census record for Orren indicates Sophia was born in New Hampshire, but this is unlikely since her parents had moved from Alstead, Cheshire County, New Hampshire to Vermont by 1800). Sophia Wood descended from Captain John Wood, born about 1678, and his wife Elizabeth Buckminster. They resided in Framingham, Massachusetts. Elizabeth was the great-granddaughter of Thomas Buckminster who came to Boston from England in 1640, and Thomas's wife Joan.
