My parents told me I liked to sing right from the time I was born -- which
may be a nice way of saying I yelled a lot -- so it is no surprise that I
ended up studying voice too. My mom's mother taught me many French songs.
(She and my mother were both French and we spoke French at home.) I became
a member of my church choir as well as school choral groups. I was blessed
with a fairly attractive wide-ranging soprano as a boy. When my voice broke,
I ended up with a rather pedestrian baritone. Nowadays I only sing in
the shower or late at night when I'm programming and no one except my cat
can hear me.
