Grace M. Burns and Robert M. Landers

Grace M. Burns was the sister of my grandfather John Michael Burns. Grace was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois on December 6, 1874. She was the daughter of Michael Burns and Margaret Cowhey Cagney Burns. The above photo of Grace Burns dates from October 4, 1947.

Grace M. Burns married Robert M. Landers on July 18, 1900 in Chicago. Robert was born around 1863 in Galbathy, Limerick County, Ireland. He was the son of John Landers and Jane Martin. Robert became a United States citizen on October 30, 1884.

Grace was a schoolteacher. Robert was a Sergeant in the Chicago police force.

Grace and Robert had nine children, six of whom lived past infancy. Of these only Joseph M. Landers ever married.

• Joseph M. Landers was born in 1918 and died in 1998. He married Virginia Kolodziej. They had one son.

Robert Landers died in Chicago on March 13, 1920. Grace Burns Landers died in Chicago on May 29, 1950.
