Train Wreck in Elsie, Clinton County, Michigan

The following photos document a train wreck in Elsie which occurred on the line which connected Elsie with Ann Arbor, Michigan. The fifth and sixth photos state the wreck occurred January 28, 1911. The first four photos were taken by W. W. Wooll of Elsie, one of the many relatives of Betsy Wooll Tillotson. The fifth photo (with the date) was taken by Sheldon Wight, another well-known photographer from Elsie. The photographer of the sixth photo is not named.

Folks standing on the track are watching a locomotive pulling parts of the wrecked train cars out of a ditch.

Workers are looking at a tank car still balanced on the trestle.

Workers are trying to get the tank car back on the tracks.

Folks are looking over the damage.

This photo says the train wreck occurred on January 28, 1911. It is the same accident as that shown in the four photos above.

This photo also says the train wreck occurred on January 28, 1911. Two children pose in the derailed car immediately behind the locomotive engine.
